WHY COWPONY RANCH KIKOS
WHY BUY COWPONY RANCH KIKOS? Because instead of reading our performance figures at a field test, you can see our performance every time our babies wean out at the appropriate weights of 50-75#'s. Animals who produce low wean weights are culled. This is on an ordinary diet of forage/hay and some protein supplement, not heavy creep feeding.
WHY BUY COWPONY RANCH KIKOS? Because of Golden Boy genetics, and his ability to consistently reproduce himself. In the pictures below you see the white goat, who is bred from a popular line of kiko . In the red goat, you see typical Golden Boy genetics. It is not just a matter of picking the names on papers, it is a matter of the prepotency of the buck. Can he reproduce himself? Can he reproduce himself consistently with great meat characteristics. It is also not a matter of how they do in their forage tests. If they are weaning at low weights for the meat buyers then you are going to have to put more money in them to get them to auction weight. Do they have the type of frame that the meat buyers want.
Buyers at the auctions have a few seconds to decide what they are going to pay for an animal. Is your animal going to catch their eye with a meaty build, or do they look like they have been living on scrub and have no meat on them. Golden Boy offspring consistently bring the better meat prices when they go into an auction. Golden Boy wethers and bucklings usually wean out at 50-75#, at 90- 120 days of age. This means they are ready for auction at weaning, with no need to hold them longer to get their weights up. Some people say it is because we feed alot. WE DON'T. It is the genetics. We have had kids from our genentics and kids from others genetics. They are in the same pen and get fed the same. The Golden Boy kids are meatier, with better loins and butts!!
At Cowpony Ranch Kikos we are proud of all of our animals be they 100%'ers, or percentages. WE show lots of pictures on our web site so you can see what many of the animals look like, not just one or two. Our genetics come thru in all of our animals. One can see the difference clearly in each kid that is born on our farm, from the moment they hit the ground. Golden Boy kids hit the ground looking to get up and find the milk. Not all buck's kids have that awesome kiko vigor. 98% of the time Golden Boy kids are bigger than their moms and meatier. His son's are showing that, they too, pass on these great characteristics. Unless raising goats is a hobby for you, MEAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE.
