WHY COWPONY RANCH KIKOS? BECAUSE OF THE THE GOLDEN BOY LEGACY

Golden Boy started out his life being shipped from georgia to kansas on the back of a flatbed trailer in a crate at the age of 5 months ( not exactly easy accomodations). He was sent to work a commercial herd in Kansas (at one time he was with 400 does). He spent the next, almost 3 years, living the rough life of a commercial goat.  He with stood snowstorms, severe praire thunder storms and tornados.During this time they recieved no fancy feeds and no wormer. At one point some of his daughters went to a field test in lexington kentucky and won the low worm count even though they had never been wormed. This is the kiko worm resistance put to the true test in a real live commercial herd. We are supposed to be breeding animals that improve the commercial herds which produce meat. That is supposed to be the point of raising goats.

After this time period Golden Boy moved to Colorado to become one of the most consistant Kiko breeding bucks. And if Colorado wasn't cold enough, Golden Boy moved to northern Wyoming and lived in temperatures of negative 20 degrees for months.  A small doghouse type shed his home out of the harsh Wyoming wind. From negative 20 degrees to 100 degrees , Golden Boy headed for  central Texas, still working and producing consistantly amazing babies.

People say that 7 and a half years old was not a very old age for a goat. Yet, how many of todays herd sires have actually worked for a living.  And not only worked for a living, but lived in such  harsh climate areas. Golden Boy was no pen goat, fed fancy feeds and living an easy life.  Kiko goats are supposed to have strong survival instincts and great worm resistance. Golden Boy proved his, but how many of todays herd sires have actually proved it. The test of a good sire is whether he can reproduce his excellent characteristics. Golden Boy has shown that he can, again and again. His sons have followed in his footsteps, and many of them have spent time in commercial herds. They are producing babies that have strong survival instincts, and have great worm resistance as tested under a microscope. In addition to these characteristics, with Golden Boy you consistantly get great meat genetics as well. That means faster to market, better weights, and a better price, at less cost. This is a meat producing business, not a glee club. THIS IS THE GOLDEN BOY LEGACY.

2 GOATS, BOTH 100% NEW ZEALAND. SAME FEED, FORAGE, ETC.

To the left are pictures of 2 bucklings. The top buckling is 6 months old and the bottom buckling is 5 months old. The top goat is about 40#s at 6 months (the genetics from your more popular breeders who have been around for quite a while, sell a lot of kikos and are supporters of all the current performance testing). The bottom goat is a Cowpony Ranch Kikos buck. (A Golden Boy son who weighed 79#s at 90 days. That is how we participate in the performance tests). These animals recieved the same feed, same forage, same worming program etc. Do you want to read the performance figures or see them as you count the money in your pocket on market day.
