COWPONY RANCH KIKOS
HELLO SANTA ANNA TEXAS, THE NEW HOME OF COWPONY RANCH KIKOS AND GOLDEN BOY
We are getting settled in our new home in santa anna Tx. The boys have settled in and are preparing for breeding season. Our Flush is in october and we will be starting our protocol soon to get everyone ready. The girls are all cycling and the boys are barking all the time. The dogs are doing well and are enjoying their surroundings while keeping out the critters. There are coyotes, bobcat and other predators, but the dogs do a great job. We recently had some great rains and the grass is really green and the tanks are full.
For those who don't know us, COWPONY RANCH KIKOS promotes the desireable characteristics of the full blood kiko, while trying to increase the total muscle mass on the overall body of the goat. We want to continue the lighter bone of the kiko, while increasing its muscle mass in the hind quarters, loins and shoulders. With our herd sire GOLDEN BOY (DNA'D, 100% NEW ZEALAND),we have been able to obtain this goal. He consistantly reproduces these characteristics as well as beautiful color. Golden Boy has given 98% color consistantly, while giving 99% great meat genetics. Few bucks in the country can give this claim. We believe that the bottom line is what sells for the highest price on market day and costs the least to produce. Having an animal weigh 50-75#'s at 90-120 days, while not having spent a bunch of money on extra feed is what we strive for. We want our weanlings ready for market and not have to be fed another few months before they make market weight. Growth rates are important. Pedigree can be important. The really important factor is will the buyer pay top dollar for your animals and how much did it cost you to raise that animal.
AT COWPONY RANCH KIKOS MEAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE. ON MARKET DAY MEAT PAYS, AND PAPERS DON'T WEIGH.
SOME PEOPLE HAVE SAID THAT GOLDEN BOY WAS JUST BIG BECAUSE HE WAS FED SO MUCH. THIS IS A PICTURE OF GOLDEN BOY WHEN HE WAS WORKING LAST SUMMER. HE IS IN HIS BREEDING COLORS HERE. HE WAS ON OUR PASTURE OF WYOMING SCRUB GRASS. YOU CAN SEE HIS BUTT MUSCLE FULL SIDE FEW AND IT IS LONG AND WELL MUSCLED.
